Leicester’s Milky Way

Nine year old school girl Hannah Brier, a friend of the Socialist Party in Leicester, was on the stall for her second time (with Kerry Feetham) on Saturday 20th April. Whilst discussing Thatcher’s legacy, Hannah came up with a “twist” on ‘Thatcher, Thatcher the milk snatcher’ and thought up the idea of giving out free milk. We thought this was such a good idea that we ran off to buy milk, milk sweets and paper cups!!

It was a fun and clever way to involve and engage with people of all ages. Hannah also managed to sell two copies of Socialism Today following encouragement from comrades!!!  A child and family friendly stall shows you are never too young to be involved, and it may help to link up with local people better!!!!

Hannah’s Letter to the Socialist Party

To Socialist Party,

I enjoyed the stall on 20th April (in Leicester). I have met Tessa, Mike, Tom, Drew and Julie. I have been along to the stall twice with Kerry Feetham, and really enjoyed it! Tom (one of the members) set me the task to sell one of the Socialism Today, and I managed to sell two! I also thought of the ‘idea’ of putting milk and milk bottles on the stall because of Thatcher the milk snatcher.

From Hannah (friend of the socialists) Age 9.
